September 10, 2017-Reading Log #1 // All Q, No A More Tales of a 10-Grade Social Climber By Lauren Mechling & Laura Moser Topic Choice 1- Characters

Mimi Schulman is in 10 grade, her role in this book is the main character. The other main character who are Mimi´s  friends are Lily, Vivian, Jessica, and Pia.  They are important in this story because they revolve around Mimi´s life.  Lily is the best friend of  Mimi and  obsessed with succeeding.  According to  the story, Mimi explains  that ¨Though obsessed with success;  I always felt a special  attachment  to Lily, who was my first actual friend in the group.¨   Vivian is half Jewish and  Filipino , she had self-confidences  issues.  In the words of Mimi, ¨She suffered from a permanent inferiority complex courtesy of her academic torments; had major self confidence issues.¨ Jessica who is boy-crazy is  boring and loves to  read books. As stated in the story, ¨When she wasn´t gardening or reading, boy-crazy Jessica Gillespie mooned over her ultralame boyfriend, Preston, who had ignored every single one of her expensive international phone calls.¨ Lastly, Pia , who shoplifts and has a great personality.  In the words of Mimi, ¨ She was simultaneously nerdy and glamorous, equal parts bossy and loyal, vain and humble;  she was also a chronic shoplifter.¨ The characters are static  because  Mimi explains  how they girls are ,but for Mimi maybe she could  be dynamic.
September  24, 2017-Reading Log # 2  //  Ethan Between  Us  By Anna Myers Topic  Choice 3- Plot

T
he important scene is when Ethan is telling Clare that when he was 6 years old he  started seeing Friedrich, an famous composer in the 1800s, which lead him going to a mental hospital when he told his family about him.  The scene is happening when Clare and Ethan are at Johnson´s pond, the day after when Ethan told Clare that he was in a mental hospital for 4 months. This  scene is important  because  it may create a problem if Clare tells others or if others find out  of  Ethan ´s  problem , or even it maybe with  Clare.  When Ethan tells  Clare she feels bad and believes him because  he explains to her how would a six year old know  Freidrich or other  composers, or what was  a concerto , or how to learn the piano .  The scene takes place in the exposition. As  stated in the story,¨Well when I was six. I knew about cowboys and about Mickey mouse. I didn´t  know about composers. I had never heard of Brahms. I had no idea what a concerto was; But  how did I learn  how to play the piano.¨In the words of Clare, ¨Oh Ethan how terrible for you; Ethan, I said, I could feel the tears slipping from my eyes. ¨   In my opinion  this scene is going to lead problems with  Clare, Ethan, and Clare´s best friend  Liz.

October 19, 2017-Reading  Log #3 //    All Q, No A More Tales of a 10-Grade Social Climber By Lauren Mechling & Laura Moser   Topic Choice   2- Conflict

The   main conflict is that Mimi´s  school Baldwin,  a   private  school,   was sinking.  The problem started by  funding   to a ¨risk free  technology stock¨.    This is a conflict because   it may harm  Mimi with her studies or she being harmed by people outside  or even her emotionally.   Mimi seems okay,   Baldwin sinking  does  not seem to bother her. I think she feels that Baldwin will get back  up.   The conflict is both   external  outside  the school and internal  inside the school.  The conflict is situational  because its between others  and the school.   As stated in the story , ¨Should I be looking for a tenth-grade openings at other school -asked Dad,  Fenella -Of course not, Helen said there´s been talk of selling the  studio building, and converting  the cafeteria  into a makeshift art studio   and making the students go out for lunch every day, Mimi- That wouldn't  be the worst, thinking of all the  delicious and affordable restaurants    near Baldwin.¨    According to the text, ¨Baldwin´s  financial  dilemma, no longer a secret, had disturbed the institution´s fragile   ecosystem. Rumored threats of job insecurity  transformed even the gentlest    teachers   into psychopathic   taskmasters.¨
